Thank you, Alan! I'll read this again and again. I notice edges with Nature, and I love the idea of bringing that noticing into the edges into my own daily life.
This is such a helpful essay, Alan. Given how quickly the world seems to change lately, it can sometimes feel as if we're being thrust over an edge before we're quite ready – as individuals, as a society. I have been finding myself in the last week choosing option #2. I'll be out of sorts, and then I recognize how I feel, find the source of tension in my body, and just sit with it. The tension usually shifts.
Cate, I'm happy to know you found this essay helpful. Option #2 is where we need to be on so many issues or so many "edges" these days. Pausing to listen, sense, and feel--letting the situation and the moment talk to us. Staying present with "what is" and giving it space nearly always creates a shift. Thank you for your words here!
Thank you for these four ways of being with the edges we encounter. So helpful and clear!
Thank you, Johnathon, I'm glad they are helpful!
