Reading this, I am at once roused and calmed. "Blessed Emptiness" is, I think, a place many run from. It's an opening and a dropping in. Thank you for sharing Chautauqua with us, Alan.

Thank you, Cate. Indeed, that "blessed emptiness" is easy to run away from. Yet if we are willing to allow ourselves to empty out--to reach that blessed state of emptiness--the gifts are profound. It is, as you say so beautifully, "an opening and a dropping in."

Beautiful to hear you read this at my dawn here in RI. That third photo is remarkable, it seems to depict a different experience in one part of the lake than another. Dark & stormy is some places, sunny in others. Apropos!
